POSITION TITLE: Serials Librarian

DEPARTMENT: NDSU Library

SALARY: Salary commensurate with experience, minimum $38,000

SCREENING DATE: May 9, 2008

DESCRIPTION: NDSU Libraries seeks an energetic serials librarian. The 
librarian's
primary responsibilities will be to work with Ebsco on the acquisition, 
receipt and
processing of serials; and maintain the library's electronic journals 
list. The serials
librarian will also have management responsibilities.
 

MINIMUM  QUALIFICATIONS:

·      ALA accredited Master's degree in Library and Information 
Science, or related field
·      Knowledge of current serials practices and standards
·      Experience with commercial "knowledgebase" and "link resolver" 
products such
as Serials Solutions, AtoZ, LinkSource, SIRSIResolver or SFX
·      Experience with a serials jobber such as EBSCO or SWETS
·      Experience with integrated library systems
·      Capable of working successfully in a changing, dynamic, and 
production-oriented
environment with evidence of initiative, flexibility and attention to 
productivity
·      Customer service oriented and willing to provide user-centered 
services
·      Communicate effectively both orally and in writing
·      Must have good problem solving skills and flexibility by 
exercising sound judgment
in dealing with a variety of issues, sometimes in ambiguous circumstances

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

·      Two (2) years relevant professional level experience
·      Financial management knowledge
·      Experience with training, developing, and supervising staff
