*HUMANITIES LIBRARIAN*
**The Appalachian State University Library seeks a visionary librarian
for the position of Humanities Librarian with primary responsibilities
in collection management, faculty liaison, and instruction.
*Responsibilities*
· Develop and manage a strong collection in all formats to support the
teaching and research missions of select departments and programs,
including English, History, and the fine and applied arts,
· Work collegially as a member of the Collection Management Team,
participating in collection analysis, budget management, and policy
development,
· Pro-actively interact with classroom faculty in areas of the humanities,
· Serve as the Library’s humanities electronic resources expert,
· Participate in the Library’s instruction program, including classroom
instruction and individual consultations both on- and off-campus,
· Engage in an active program of scholarship and professional service as
outlined in the University’s Faculty Handbook and the Library’s
Departmental Personnel Committee Guidelines.
*Qualifications*
Required:
· American Library Association accredited masters degree,
· Professional academic library experience,
· Humanities background either by academic preparation or through prior
library collection management experience,
· Working knowledge of major humanities resources and selection tools,
· Excellent spoken and written communication skills,
· Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment,
· Strong commitment to scholarship, service, and leadership roles.
Preferred:
· Bachelors and/or advanced degree in the humanities, preferably History,
English, or Art,
· Two or more years experience in academic library collection management,
· Life experiences similar to those of under-represented populations at
Appalachian. The Library strongly encourages applications from members

Americans, and Asian Americans.
This is a twelve-month tenure-track position. The position may be filled
at the Instructor, Assistant Professor, or Associate Professor rank.
Rank as an Assistant or Associate Professor and continued employment
beyond the Instructor term requires an advanced degree in addition to
the MLS. Salary and rank are determined on the basis of qualifications
and experience. Minimum salaries for the ranks are: Instructor $41,000,
Assistant Professor $45,000, and Associate Professor $49,000.
