Subject: Position Available: Content Licensing Manager
Library Associates Companies (LAC) seeks an experienced Content
Licensing Manager for dynamic media company based in Chicago, IL.
This is an exceptional opportunity for an enthusiastic professional who
has experience acquiring, refining and merchandising content for
subscription based online library to create a world-class researching
experience.
Responsibilities:
* Manage existing publisher and aggregator relationships
* Uncover and evaluate content sources for acquisition
* Forge new relationships and negotiate for new content acquisitions
* Perform content inventories and analysis
* Synthesize analysis into opportunities and strategies
* Innovate ways to utilize content to drive traffic and subscriptions
(taxonomies and categorization, entity extraction, blogging, SEO,
and current event vs. archived news, etc)
* Monitor, maintain/manage inventory of more than 5,000
publications across multiple web properties
Qualifications:
* 3-5 years experience in online field
* Ability to understand the publishing industry’s business models,
practices and trends
* Strong negotiating skills
* Excellent communication skills and the ability to write well
* Ability to gather and interpret data from online analytics tools
* Basic understanding of XML, HTML, & SEO
* Awareness of taxonomies, controlled vocabularies, or some
other formal classification scheme is desired
* Familiarity with social networking and Web2.0 techniques
including blogging, customer-driven content, RSS, etc, is a plus
* Comfortable in a fast-paced and fluid environment, which
demands a high level of energy, commitment and professionalism
* Bachelor's degree preferably in a related field (Journalism,
Library Sciences or Communications).
