Subject: ALA Discussion - Vendor MARC Records for E-content

Please join the Automated Acquisitions In-Process/Control Systems
Discussion Group for a discussion on Vendor MARC Records for
E-content. Our discussion group will meet on Sunday, January
13th from 10:30-12:00 in the Pennsylvania Convention Center,
Room 109B.

Our discussion topic will focus on MARC records supplied by
vendors for e-content materials. What do libraries need for
purchasing, receiving, cataloging, access, licensing rights and
archiving? Can vendors fill this need through the MARC record?
Is standardization possible? What's being done now?
What's in the future?

The moderator for this discussion will be Ruth Fischer from
R2 Consulting. Panelists include: Ann-Marie Breaux, YBP
Library Services; Gary Charbonneau, Indiana University, Marsha
Garman, Yale University, Sharon Marshall, University of Alberta,
and Cynthia Whitacre, OCLC.

Please come and contribute to our discussion.
