Subject: ALCTS Workflow Efficiency Discussion Group at Midwinter
The ALCTS Workflow Efficiency Discussion Group (formerly the
Pre-Order Pre-Catalog Searching Discussion Group) invites you to
attend a new forum at ALA to discuss and analyze techniques, developments,
problems, and technological advances in the workflows associated with
the evaluation, selection, acquisition and discovery of library materials
and resources.
Monday, January 14, 2008
1:30-3:30 pm
Philadelphia Marriot, Room 304
The inaugural meeting under the new name and charge will be a town
hall discussion rather than a formal presentation in order to generate
dialogue on technical services workflows, and the most challenging
aspects of workflows that need to be addressed by librarians, vendors,
and by this group going forward. Interested participants will be
invited to present a question or challenge related to workflows for a lively
discussion among other group members. Librarians, materials vendors,
ILS vendors, publishers, and other interested parties are invited to attend
what will truly be a discussion group, focused on sharing library
workflow challenges and the strategies that can be used to improve them.
