Collection Management in Public Libraries Discussion Group discussion 
topics:

Thanks to those who sent in suggestions of discussion topics for the 
Midwinter meeting. 

The topics during the first hour will be:
1. Weeding as a function of collection analysis and management.
2. The decline in book circulation compared to other formats.  What are 
the implications
for libraries, publishers and the public?

During the last half hour we will share some ideas about:
1. Outsourcing selection of materials to a vendor or consortium. 
(This always seems to be of interest to everyone.)
2. Tips on preparing an annual materials budget request.

 
The discussion group is scheduled for Monday, January 14, from 10:30 to 
12:00, in the
Crowne Plaza Hotel in the Independence Room.  Our new co-chair, Melissa 
DeWild
(Kent District Library, Comstock Park, MI) cannot attend. Anne Silvers Lee
(Free Library of Philadelphia, PA) has agreed to co-chair with me at 
Midwinter.
