applications for the following position--

Position Available: Collection Management Librarian

Type of Appointment: Assistant or Associate Professor; tenure track,
9-month appointment plus 28 additional duty days.

Salary: $53,000 minimum, commensurate with academic qualifications and
experience.

Responsibilities: The Collection Management Librarian will provide
leadership for library collection development and acquisitions. Specific
duties of the position:

• Plan and manage annual materials budget of over $1.2 million

• Develop and maintain relationships with faculty and students to
determine collection needs and priorities

• Develop appropriate collection policies

• Manage vendor relations

• Work cooperatively with other members of the collection management
team and with liaison collection developers

• Oversee the work of the acquisitions staff; develop and manage
workflows and assure timely processing of acquisitions requests

• Provide regularly scheduled reference service at the service desk or
via virtual reference

• Teach one course per year in a library-associated academic program

Demonstrated ability to teach and/or perform effectively, scholarly
achievement or research, continued preparation and study, contribution
to student growth and development, and service to the university and
community are required for tenure and promotion.

Qualifications & Experience:

Required:

• ALA-accredited master’s degree in library or information science

• Professional experience in collection management

• Ability to present ideas effectively, both orally and in writing, to
groups and individuals

• Knowledge of current and emerging trends in academic library
services/resources as they relate to scholarly communication and publishing

• Demonstrated ability to work with persons from culturally diverse
backgrounds

Preferred:

• Second graduate degree

• Experience in an academic library

• Ability to create a cooperative and effective work environment

• Teaching experience
