vendor in Los Angeles
Library Associates Companies (LAC) has an exciting opportunity for a
Librarian
with a strong background in Technical Services, Integrated Library
Systems (ILS)
and vendor ordering systems to work for a well-known company in the greater
Los Angeles area. The company is a leader in providing automatic
solutions to
libraries through their complete ILS system. The ideal candidate will
work with
a new product line module through conception, marketing, sales and growth.
Responsibilities
+ Participate in overall strategy, research and development requirements,
and development for new and emerging requirements for the Company’s
product line;
+ Develop detailed written specifications, workflow and screen design
for the
development and/or enhancement of the product;
+ Manage day-to-day progress of the product line development;
+ Provide technical expertise and training to other departments and other
staff in support of product development and implementation;
+ Collaborate with sales, programming, marketing, and operations
to develop and provide product line definitions responsive to customer needs
and market opportunities;
+ Participate in key sales and training situations for the module.
Qualifications
+ MLS Degree and 3-5 years experience in a mid to large public library’s
technical services department with experience in acquisitions and
cataloging.
+ A clear understanding of ILS cataloging and acquisition functions and book
vendor ordering systems such B&T, Blackwell or Ingram is also required
+ Experience in serials management would be desirable.
+ Work experience for an ILS vendor is a plus but not required;
+ Up to 20% travel as needed for customer and industry related meetings.
