Apologies for cross-posting.

E-Access and Serials Librarian
Trinity University
San Antonio, TX

Trinity University seeks a dynamic, forward-thinking individual to become its electronic
access and serials librarian. The successful candidate will join a team of energetic,
creative librarians whose work earned them the ACRL Excellence in Academic
Libraries award in 2007.

Reporting to the head of technical services, this position is responsible for overseeing
and coordinating all operations in the subscriptions and standing orders unit, including
the acquisition and cataloging of serial publications in all formats, provision of local
and off-campus access to these materials, and bindery and book repair. Four
classified staff members report to this position.

In addition, all librarians at Trinity serve as liaisons to at least one academic
department, providing collection development, information literacy instruction, and
communication from the library to the faculty and students of that discipline.

This is an excellent opportunity for a librarian who seeks broad responsibilities in a
collaborative atmosphere. We offer an environment that supports risk-taking and
new ideas, and the chance to participate actively in campus life.

A detailed position description is available here.

Qualifications:

Required: ALA-accredited MLS degree or its international equivalent; experience
managing serials and/or electronic resources operations in an academic setting;
knowledge of integrated library systems, bibliographic utilities, and other tools for
information management or bibliographic control such as electronic resource
management systems and journal management systems.

Preferred: Track record of participation in or development of innovative access to
the scholarly periodical literature. Evidence of creative approaches to information
access problems, and an ability to understand and communicate the patron
experience to others. Demonstrated ability to assess and implement workflows,
manage projects, and establish and document departmental policies and
procedures; and strong written and oral communication skills.

Salary range: $45,000-48,000.

Benefits include: Trinity-paid TIAA/CREF when qualified, comprehensive
insurance options, 20 days vacation, and generous professional development
support.

Trinity University is a nationally recognized liberal arts and sciences institution
characterized by a demanding curriculum, distinguished faculty, exceptionally
bright students, and a campus that is among the most modern and beautiful in
America. Trinity’s Coates Library has been recognized for its innovation: it was
the college division recipient of ACRL’s 2007 Excellence in Academic Libraries
award. Trinity is located in what Will Rogers called one of America's four unique
cities. Combining Old World charm, a multicultural heritage, and numerous
cultural and historical attractions, San Antonio is a friendly, affordable, enchanting
city in which to live and study.

To apply: Submit a detailed resume, application letter addressing experience
and interest, and the names, phone numbers, email and postal addresses of three
references to: Diane J. Graves, University Librarian, (send email applications to
rnelson@trinity.edu) Trinity University Library, One Trinity Place, San Antonio,
TX, 78212-7200.

Review of applications begins October 15 and continues until the position is filled.
