Subject: ALA Meeting Announcement: ALCTS PVLR Open Forum
Please plan to attend the ALCTS Publisher-Vendor-Library Relations
(PVLR) Open Forum in Washington, DC:
eBooks 2.0 : Now Are We Ready?
8 - 10 AM on Monday, June 25, 2007
Washington Convention Center, Room 143A
Many libraries experimented with eBooks when they first emerged in the
late 1990s, and many of those experiments resulted in concerns about the
quality of content, access restrictions, clunky interfaces, and low use
by patrons. Are we finally ready to commit to eBooks now that the there
are new models for access, pricing, and content? Are our users ready to
incorporate eBooks into their research as widely they have incorporated
e-journals? Listen to our panel of librarians, vendors, and publishers
discuss how they have been integrating the re-emergence of eBooks into
their monographic collection development and business practices.
Speakers will include:
Jeffrey Earnest, Asst. Director for Collections & Technical Services,
National University
Michael Levine-Clark, Coordinator of Collections Management, University
of Denver
Brian Weese, Director of Sales and Marketing, Island Press
James Gray, President and CEO, Ingram Digital Ventures
Leslie Lees, Vice President for Content Development, ebrary
Moderator: Ann-Marie Breaux, Vice President, Academic Service
Integration,
YBP
The PVLR Interest Group also has a business meeting, which is open to
all,
at every ALA on Saturday afternoon. Please join us from 1:30 - 3:30 on
Saturday, June 23rd at the Renaissance Washington, Room 5.
