Free NISO/BISG Information Standards Forum to Precede ALA Conference

On June 22, NISO and the Book Industry Study Group, Inc. (BISG) will
present a free, half-day forum, The Changing Standards Landscape:
Creative Solutions to Your Information Problems. The forum, to be held
at the Renaissance Washington's Grand Ballroom (North), will
immediately precede the American Library Association's 2007 Annual
Conference in Washington, DC.

NISO's Managing Director, Todd Carpenter, and BISG's Executive
Director, Michael Healy, will lead the forum through three main agenda
items:

The Changing Model for Standards Development
Six Key Attributes of Successful Digital Content Management
Emerging Opportunities for Improving Customer Relationships Through
Standards

"We will deliver a big-picture look at the development and impact of
common solutions-based standards for librarians and publishers alike,"
said NISO's Todd Carpenter. "In particular, the forum will focus on the
preparations underway to build standards for tomorrow's digital supply
chain and will call for industry-wide participation and consensus in
their development."

A roster of industry experts has confirmed their participation,
including Brian Green, Executive Director of ISBN and EDItEUR; Norman
Paskin, Founding Director, International DOI Foundation; Nathan
Robertson, Electronic Resources Librarian, Thurgood Marshall Law
Library,
University of Maryland School of Law; and Mark Bide, Senior Consultant,
Rightscom.

This open event is free of charge. Although drop-ins are encouraged, we
would appreciate if you would RSVP to nisohq_at_niso.org or fill out the
online form at http://www.bisg.org/conferences/ala07_form.html if you
