The New Mexico State University Library invites applications for the
position of Acquisitions Librarian, Assistant or Associate Professor.

Founded in 1888, New Mexico State University is a comprehensive
land-grant university and Carnegie designated high research institution.
NMSU is a member of the Hispanic Association of Colleges and
Universities, and is classified as a Title V Minority Institution by the
U.S. Department of Education. The University is located in the southern
New Mexico city of Las Cruces, which offers a variety of cultural and

RESPONSIBILITIES:  
With the budget management team, plans, develops and manages aspects of
library materials budget ($2+ million); works closely with collection
development coordinator and subject specialists regarding budgetary
aspects of collection development; in consultation with the Head of
Technical Services develops and implements policies, standards, goals,
and procedures to continuously improve workflow; provides leadership and
support for the Acquisitions Unit; conducts performance reviews and
provides input for merit assessments. As a member of the library
faculty, is responsible for achieving in the following areas:
librarianship, research, and creative activity; and service.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Required:  MLS from an ALA-accredited program or equivalent;
demonstrated budget management experience; minimum of 1 year of recent
acquisitions experience.  Experience with vendor negotiations and
licensing agreements, electronic invoicing, scholarly communication,;
ability to multitask and manage detail; strong written and oral
communication skills; previous personnel management experience; ability
to work in cross-organizational collaboration; strong critical thinking
skills.

Preferred: Knowledge of integrated library system, preferably Voyager;
proficiency with Excel and Access.
