Subject: Workshop Announcement
SOLINET is offering the following class in March:
Evaluation of Electronic Resources
http://tinyurl.com/2bcrpr
03/15/07
(9:00-4:00)
SOLINET
Atlanta, GA
This full-day class links two important current topics in libraries:
evaluation and technology. As expenditures for automated services
increase, there is a parallel concern over which services to offer and
how to evaluate the impact of electronic services. Topics include:
Sources of electronic information, licensing issues, consortial
arrangements, criteria for selection, selection tools, and fee vs. free.
Also covered are questions such as: What do you want to know about the
library's electronic services? Why evaluate? How does evaluation fit in
with planning? How does the library's vision relate to its electronic
services? What evaluation strategies can be used in the electronic
environment? How can the information gathered help tell the library's
technology story?
Intended audience:
Staff members responsible for the selection of electronic resources;
staff interested in developing an understanding of electronic resources.
