The Florida Center for Library Automation (FCLA) has a new position open

E-Resource Licensing Specialist will be responsible for the consortia
licenses of databases and electronic journals for the 11 institutions in

JOB SUMMARY:
The incumbent is responsible for taking the leadership role in the
management, evaluation, and licensing of shared SUL ejournal
collections; this position also holds responsibility for the shared SUL
databases that are funded through a state appropriation to FCLA. Working
in a team environment within FCLA and in liaison to the State University
System's Collection Planning Committee (CPC) and its Electronic
Resources Subcommittee (ERS), the incumbent solicits initial and renewal
price quotes; negotiates licenses within the parameters set by State law
and University policies; prepares the groundwork for requisitions and
insures that billing problems are directed to the individual schools.
The primary responsibilities of the successful candidate will be
negotiating and managing licenses and addressing technical issues of
these resources that relate to various methods of authentication, access
control, and customization of individual, institutional interface
configurations; producing statistical reports for both onsite and
offsite resources, principally electronic journals; and managing the
development of a license information website for the SUS libraries. An
FCLA instance of VERDE will be available to facilitate these activities.
Also, this position assists in the development of SUL-wide e-resource
management.  Travel is required and there is a period of evaluation.

This position is one of 6 staff positions that make up the E-Resource
Management and Access team (ERMA).  ERMA manages more than $11,000,000
annually worth of e-resources per year.  In addition to the licensing
activities, ERMA is responsible for the shared SFX/Metalib and Verde
installations supported by FCLA.

Requirements:
MLS or other advanced degree.  Four years of professional experience in
an academic or research library or an academic library consortium and 2
or more years experience working with e-resource licensing and
management.  Knowledge of the technical issues involved in the network
delivery of electronic resources and with the legal and business issues
involved in acquisition, licensing and management of electronic
resources.  Familiarity with Internet developments, electronic
publishing and current library technologies such as link resolving
software.  Excellent written and oral communication and negotiation
skills required.

RANK & SALARY:  Assistant-in-Libraries (non-tenure accruing, library
faculty); minimum of $60,000 depending on experience.

BENEFITS:
Twelve month appointment on an annual contract. 22 vacation days, 13
days sick leave and 9 paid holidays per year.  Retirement plan options,
group health plan, and life insurance available. No local or state
income tax.  Snow is extremely infrequent. Beaches and fresh-water
springs are near.
