Associate Director for Technical Services & Systems -- Health Sciences
Center Libraries -- Temple University -- Pennsylvania

Associate Director for Technical Services & Systems, HSC Libraries
This is an exceptional opportunity to be involved in strategic planning 
for policy and program development activities and be part of an 
executive management team for a library program consisting of the main 
Biomedical Library and the Fisher Learning Center, the South Branch 
Library (dentistry, pharmacy, health information management, nursing, 
occupational therapy, and physical therapy) - both located on the 
Health Sciences Center campus, and the School of Podiatric Medicine 
Library, located adjacent to Chinatown. In this role, you will:

. Direct the Technical Services and Systems Department of a large, 
complex academic health sciences center library program (acquisitions 
and technical processing, cataloging, serials, electronic content 
licensing, binding, and collection evaluation).
. Serve the Schools of Medicine, Dentistry, Podiatric Medicine, and
Pharmacy; College of Health Professions; Temple University Hospital 
and Episcopal Campus (Department of Psychiatry); and the Temple 
University Children's Medical Center.
. Participate in integrated technology planning with the Temple 
University Central Library System (Paley Library, plus branch and 
suburban campus libraries).

Required:
. Master's degree in library or information science from an American 
Library Association (ALA)-accredited graduate program.
. Working knowledge of all applicable computer software.
.Management experience (including planning, negotiation, and 
communication skills) and excellent project management skills.
. Extensive knowledge of university policies and procedures, and 
financial and budgeting principles.

Preferred:
. Membership in the Academy of Health Information Professionals (AHIP) 
of the Medical Library Association (MLA).
. 10 years' experience in a medical or science library highly 
desirable.
. 5 years' supervisory experience and experience working with
state-of-the-art integrated library systems and library automation.
. Extensive knowledge of OCLC or RLIN bibliographic utilities.
