Subject: Position Announcement
The National Library of Medicine invites applicants for the position of
Deputy Chief of the Technical Services Division.
The Deputy Chief of the Technical Services Division (TSD) shares
responsibility with the Chief for directing and managing all activities
of the TSD. With the assistance of three Section Heads and various
subordinate supervisors and technical experts, participates in
supervising and directing the activities of approximately 80 Division
employees responsible for acquisitions, bibliographic control,
collection development, licensing, serials control and associated
automated systems, including the integrated library system, electronic
resources management system, and the NLM Catalog.
In addition to meeting the basic requirements; i.e., Master's degree
in library science or equivalent education or experience, applicants
must demonstrate knowledge of library automation and the electronic
library environment including developments in integrated library and
electronic resource management systems, electronic publishing, data
formats and related standards and policy issues that affect acquisition
of and access to published biomedical information.
