Acquisitions/Electronic Resources Librarian
Vacancy Announcement
The Curtis Laws Wilson Library of the University of Missouri-Rolla
invites applications for the position of Acquisitions/Electronic
Resources Librarian. UM-Rolla, one of four campuses of the University of
Missouri, is the premier science and engineering campus of the system.
It offers undergraduate and graduate degrees in science and engineering,
and undergraduate degrees in the liberal arts.
Within the library, nine professionals and 17 support staff serve 400
faculty and 5,000 high-ability students. The collection includes
approximately 450,000 volumes, 2,000 periodical titles and 20,000
electronic resources. UMR is also a selective depository for U.S. and
Missouri government documents. Strong emphasis is placed on cooperation
with public services. The relatively small staff size and flexible
organizational structure assure staff of active involvement in library
concerns.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Leads Acquisitions team which includes periodical and monograph
acquisitions and government documents processing. Collaborates with
Assistant Director on hiring and evaluation of staff as well as provides
support, training and expert assistance to staff. Coordinates selected
areas of electronic resources, including licensing, usage statistics,
troubleshooting access issues, and vendor trials. Serves as backup for
core library technology. Tracks journal allocations and provides
support for maintenance of acquisitions funds as necessary. Assists
with collection development functions, including cancellation and
deselection projects. Coordinates donations of materials to the
library. Participates in preservation team. Position reports to
Assistant Director for Technical Services.
QUALIFICATIONS: Required: ALA-accredited MLS; proficiency with
spreadsheet and word processing programs such as Microsoft Word and
Excel.
Desired: Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of current standards
and practices in acquisitions, particularly with electronic resources
and licensing; Familiarity with Innovative Millennium catalog software.

SALARY and BENEFITS: 12 month, non-tenured faculty position at Librarian
II level; $34,000 minimum; 28 days vacation annually and 8 paid
holidays; vested retirement after five years; university medical and
dental benefits package.
COMMUNITY: Rolla, with a population of about 18,000, is located in the
foothills of the Ozarks. Centrally located to St. Louis, Columbia and
Springfield , MO. Outdoor recreational opportunities abound. Very
reasonable cost of living. Rolla provides excellent educational and
medical facilities.
