The University of Texas at Arlington Job Posting
Licensing & Information Content Specialist (Librarian)
Monthly salary: $3,333.33 negotiable depending on qualifications +
excellent benefits
Hours per week: 40.00 Standard from 800AM to 500PM
Hiring department: LIBRARY
General notes: Occasional night or weekend work as needed to complete
projects. Before a hiring offer is made, current/last supervisor will

Required qualifications
American Library Association accredited Master's degree. 2 years
professional experience in an academic library. Competence with MS
Excel and MS Access. Equivalent combination of relevant education and
experience may be substituted as appropriate.
Preferred qualifications
Academic library experience working with electronic resources and
acquisitions or serials; experience reviewing & negotiating licenses;
significant coursework in one or more of the assigned disciplines;
knowledge of emerging trends in publishing, scholarly communication &
information delivery; knowledge of principles of resource management &
assessment in the digital environment.
Purpose of position
Serves as primary negotiator of licenses for new electronic resources
in all disciplines and serves as information content specialist in the
assigned subject areas (humanities or social sciences)
Essential functions
Reviews vendor license agreements prior to purchase of new electronic
resources, makes modifications based on guidelines from the UT System
Office of General Counsel & best practices. Negotiates license changes
with vendor prior to product access. Identifies & selects resources for
purchase or lease in assigned subjects; assesses resources to determine
utility to existing & planned degree programs & research interests;
establishes & monitors approval plan profiles; writes collection
statements Determines budget priorities, allocates funds & monitors
expenditures in assigned disciplines. Maintains official files of
license agreements; educates staff & users about appropriate use of
database content; assists staff with trouble-shooting access problems.
Monitors trends in publishing, serials, copyright & licensing;
participates in unit planning & goal setting. Other functions as
assigned.
Working conditions
Exposure to standard office conditions. Repetitive use of a keyboard at
a workstation. Use of manual dexterity. Security Sensitive; criminal
background check conducted. Professional development and training may
require some overnight travel.
