THE UNIVERSITY OF ALASKA FAIRBANKS seeks energetic, forward-thinking,
team-oriented applicants for the position of Collection Development
Officer at the Elmer E. Rasmuson Library, the campus' main library.
This position reports directly to the Dean of Libraries and is a member
of the library's management team. The Collection Development Officer
provides leadership for the development of general library collections,
works closely with library and campus faculty in collection analysis
and evaluation, oversees a program of liaisons, works collaboratively
onresource sharing and consortial opportunities, and contributes
actively to library budgeting, planning and decision-making. This is a
tenure-track faculty position.
Established as the original site of the University of Alaska in 1917,
UAF is a multi-campus university based in Fairbanks, the state's second
largest city, with seven extended campuses spanning two-thirds of the
state. UAF serves as the cultural hub of the Alaskan Interior region: we
have latitude with attitude. The campus is located on a scenic hill on
the edge of Fairbanks that offers a majestic view of the Alaska Range
and access to ski and hiking trails through miles of boreal forest. The
Fairbanks Campus is a leading research intensive university with
programs in social and natural sciences, arts, and interdisciplinary
areas with a particular emphasis on the North. UAF's research revenues
exceed $110 million, comprising more than 90% of the total research
revenue of the University of Alaska statewide system. The research
centers and cultural facilities, such as the International Arctic
Research Center, the Geophysical Institute, the Institute of Northern
Engineering, the University of Alaska Museum of the North, and the
Davis Concert Hall, attract renowned scholars, researchers, performers,
and artists.
SALARY: Competitive and commensurate with experience. $55,000 minimum
plus benefits.
