Assistant Director for Technical Services

The University of Missouri-Columbia (MU) seeks qualified applicants for
the position of Assistant Director for Technical Services. Reporting to
the Director of Libraries, this position oversees the acquisitions,
cataloging, physical processing, and preservation of library materials.
Responsibilities include providing leadership in planning, developing,
implementing and evaluating divisional operations and services within a
user centered organization to achieve the Libraries' goals and

Minimum requirements: MLS from an ALA accredited program or equivalent.
Minimum of six years of experience in academic or research libraries.
Proven abilities in communication, management, and problem-solving.
Preferred qualifications: Proven skills in the application of technology
to enhance effectiveness in technical services operations. Four years
progressively responsible administrative duties, including management of
at least one major technical services unit.
Salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience. Benefits
include vested retirement after five years, University medical benefits
package, and other normal fringe benefits including 75% tuition waiver.
Moving expenses covered up to 10% of negotiated salary. This is a non-
tenured academic appointment with the rank of Librarian III or IV, also
depending on qualifications and experience.
