Acquisitions/Collection Development Librarian
Pfeiffer University, Misenheimer, NC
Pfeiffer University is seeking an individual who can provide superb
leadership in acquiring library resources, working collaboratively with
faculty in the selection of resources to support their curriculum.
This individual will be responsible for allocation of library funds and
will monitor budgets to ensure compliance. Responsibilities will also
include ordering library materials and supplies in all formats,
receiving incoming library materials, processing invoices and
maintaining records of all materials ordered. Efficient acquisition
procedures must be followed. The ideal candidate will cooperate as a
team member with the library staff, performing any duty essential to
the achievement of efficient library operations, performing reference/
circulation work as needed, and working evening and weekend hours in
rotation with other staff. Pfeiffer Library provides collections and
services to meet the diverse information, curricular, and research
needs of the University's communities of learners.
A Master's degree in library science from an ALA-accredited library
school is required, along with the ability to work well with faculty,
students and other library staff; excellent oral and written
communication skills; experience with standard technology applications
including Windows and Microsoft Office; strong service orientation and
commitment to continuous professional development. Knowledge of
standard selection methods and tools; professional library experience
with acquisitions budget projections, allocations and reports;
experience with Voyager ILS is preferred.
Pfeiffer University is a private, Liberal Arts University, affiliated
with the United Methodist Church, whose mission is to prepare servant
leaders for life-long learning. The main campus is located in
Misenheimer, approximately 40 miles northeast of Charlotte, NC, with
additional locations in Charlotte, Cornelius and the Raleigh area.

experience.
