Acquisitions and Serials Librarian

Lafayette College seeks a forward-looking librarian to provide 
leadership in the acquisition and management of the Library's 
digital and print collections.  Lafayette has a well-funded 
collection development program, and seeks to ensure that its 
policies and practices will evolve to reflect changes in the 
structure of scholarly communication and in the use of technologies 
for acquiring, describing, and linking information resources.

RESPONSIBILITIES: monographic and serials acquisitions, including 
electronic resource licensing and records management; budget 
analysis; relations with publishers, vendors, and consortia; 
communications with faculty about changes in scholarly publishing; 
participation in collection development; supervision of 3 FTE staff.

QUALIFICATIONS: Required: master's degree from ALA-accredited 
library school or equivalent; experience with an integrated library 
system, preferably Innovative Millennium; commitment to enhancing 
services through teamwork and responsiveness to faculty and student 
needs; excellent analytical, oral, and written communications 
skills; understanding of how scholarly publications are produced, 
sold or licensed, managed by libraries, and used by students and 
scholars.  Preferred: experience with budget allocations, reports, 
and projections; familiarity with electronic resource management 
systems; knowledge of serials cataloging.

SALARY:  Commensurate with experience and qualifications.  This is 
a faculty position (w/o rank or tenure) with generous personnel 
benefits, including tuition remission/grants for children of employees.
