Electronic Collections Librarian
UNIVERSITY LIBRARY
OAA Position NO.: 06-07 LIBR-ELECTRONIC-TT

DUTIES OF THE POSITION : The Electronic Collections Librarian will 
develop and manage electronic resource collections, including 
acquisition, licensing and access; keep current with emerging 
technologies and developments in electronic products and services; serve

as a liaison between library public and technical services to facilitate

the effective integration of electronic resources into the teaching and 
learning mission of the University; and design effective assessment 
strategies for electronic resources and services.

The appointee to this position will participate in a full range of 
faculty responsibilities including teaching credit courses and other 
instructional sessions in the library information literacy program; 
providing instructionally focused reference services in person and 
online; serving as a subject specialist and liaison to disciplinary 
departments; and participating in faculty governance. S/He is expected 
to participate in rotational duties at the Concord Campus. Librarians 
enjoy faculty rank and privileges and are expected to participate in the

full range of Library faculty responsibilities and activities expected 
of a member of the tenure-track. This is advertised as a 12-month 
appointment with a possibility of 10-month appointment.

QUALIFICATIONS :
Required: MLS from an ALA-accredited institution or equivalent; 
excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills; a 
willingness and ability to serve students from diverse educational and 
cultural backgrounds; familiarity with the principles of information 
literacy; ability to work collegially in a diverse, fast-paced 
environment; a strong service commitment; and demonstrated awareness of 
industry standards in acquiring and licensing electronic resources.

Desired: Demonstrated knowledge or experience needed to plan, manage, 
and assess electronic resource collections and the ability to resolve 
electronic resource access issues; knowledge of bibliographic and 
metadata tools; strong analytic skills; demonstrated ability in planning

and implementation of projects; and academic reference desk experience.

RANK AND SALARY : Senior Assistant Librarian, commensurate with 
experience and qualifications.
