ACRL Scholarly Communication Discussion Group at ALA Midwinter, San
Antonio, Texas: Authors and Authority: Perspectives on Negotiating
Licenses and Copyright - continuing the discussion from the ACRL SPARC
Forum
Sunday, January 22, 2006, 4-6 pm
HCB Room 213
David Hoole, Head of Brand Marketing and Content Licensing, Nature
Publishing Group and John Ober, Director of Education and Strategy,
California Digital Library will lead a discussion as a follow up to
their presentations on Saturday at the ACRL SPARC Forum. Join us to
continue the discussion from Saturday or hear their ideas and join the
conversation.
They will discuss ways that the traditional relationship between author
and publisher is changing: from individual author's addenda included
with publishing agreements to large-scale efforts from universities and
organizations like Creative Commons and Science Commons. At the SPARC-
ACRL Forum they will outline a path for the future that will better
serve academe and the public. Participants in the Discussion Group will
have a chance to further discuss their ideas and offer their own.
Please join us for this event.
