ELECTRONIC RESOURCES LIBRARIAN
Location: Alexandria, VA
Job Description
Duties:
Work with subject matter experts to conduct in-depth evaluations of
current desktop resources. Make recommendations concerning new resources
and renewal/cancellation of existing resources. Arrange demonstrations
of electronic resources in library facilities by working through vendors
and by planning and providing in-house demos. Advise on organization,
graphic design, and presentation of electronic resources on intranet
pages. Participate in oversight and maintenance of knowledge management
applications.
Knowledge:
Knowledge of the principles, concepts, and techniques of library
science.
Knowledge of electronic resources in libraries, and other information
technologies. Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in
writing.
Ability to plan and carry out library programs. Ability to analyze and
organize information and materials. Ability to provide consultation or
liasion duties. Working knowledge of the following systems and
application is desirable: MS Office Suite including Access, Powerpoint
and Publisher, Dialog, STN, Lexis-Nexis, Questel-Orbit, IEEE,
Dreamweaver, PhotoShop.
Education and Experience:
Masters Degree in Library Science. Two to five years experience in
special or government library setting. Experience with evaluation of
commerical databases and online resources. Experience with providing
training in the use of information resources and databases. Graphic
design talent a plus.
