Extended Call for Ideas and Proposals

The NASIG Continuing Education Committee has extended the date for
sending in ideas and proposals for continuing education programming in
2006. The new date is Monday, September 12, 2005.

Some of the topics the Committee would love to receive proposals or
ideas on include:

o	serials acquisitions
o	electronic resources management
o	collection management, licensing
o	topics that appeal to NASIG members representing commercial
concerns (i.e., publishing, content providers, subscription agents
etc.)
o	consortia programs
o	best practices
o	cyber librarians
o	negotiation skills (for librarians *and* content providers)
o	health sciences
o	public libraries

These are just suggestions; the Committee welcomes any other proposals
that would be beneficial to the serials community. In developing ideas
for the Committee to consider, think about courses you have always
wanted to attend or design; your creativity is most welcome!

The Committee wants to support continuing education in geographic
areas, including Canada, Mexico, and portions of the Midwest, that may
not have been adequately served in recent years. The Committee needs to
begin the planning process as early as possible to prepare the 2006
budget and to ensure balanced programming with regards to both topics
addressed and geographic locations served.

In making a proposal, please include the topic of your workshop;
audience; location(s); speaker(s); date (month or season); duration;
local coordinators; co-sponsors; and preliminary budget request (if
formally proposing NASIG sponsorship). Please send your ideas to the
NASIG Continuing Education Committee co-chair Nathan Rupp
(nar25_at_cornell.edu) by September 12, 2005.

Thank you in advance for your assistance. With your help the Committee
is looking forward to another very productive year.

Nathan Rupp (for the Continuing Education Committee)
