Subject: Position Announcement
PASCAL is looking for a highly motivated, technically proficient,
unflappable, detail-oriented, web-savvy, and outgoing librarian to work
on
developing a highly productive knowledge environment where members of
South Carolina's academic and research community have equitable,
immediate
access to library information and services regardless of their location
and
at the time they are most needed.
We need someone to provide leadership to help design, manage, promote
and
support the statewide library portal and cooperative services that will
help
achieve this vision. The programs we are designing include universal
access to print and electronic resources through universal borrowing,
expedited ILL, and document delivery; electronic resource licensing,
using
both member and state funds; and digitization. We also seek to develop
user-centered services such as virtual reference, and to strengthen
infrastructures at member institutions through cooperative collection
development and regional storage.
The technical core of this exciting program will be an INNREACH system
designed by Innovative Interfaces, Inc, and we will incorporate other
technologies as needed.
Our ideal candidate will bring a record of accomplishment and will be
someone who loves a challenge and can work in dynamic environment and
can
define what universal access means in the 21st century, and can help
implement it on a statewide level. If you have ILL, circulation, or
document delivery experience, or know about universal borrowing systems,
or
have training outreach experience, or project management experience, we
would like to talk to you. Any mix of the following skills would also
be
desirable: web-design, systems, cataloging, or database licensing.
A complete description and information on applying may be found here:
http://pascalsc.org/admin/positions.html
PASCAL is offering a comprehensive compensation package that includes a
competitive salary, TIAA/CREF or state-system retirement, health
insurance,
and life insurance. The position will be available, September 2005.
Applications will be accepted until the position is filled. Please
include
your salary requirements in your cover letter.
Thanks.
