Librarian (Electronic Resources Cataloger)
The National Institutes of Health (NIH) Library in Bethesda, Maryland,
seeks
a librarian who can assist with responsibility for collection
development,
acquisitions, serials management, cataloging and authority control,
database
management, and maintaining the integrated library system for electronic
and
print collections.
The incumbent uses emerging technologies and new approaches in
cataloging
work and electronic resource management, including cataloging and
metadata
standards, providing access to electronics resources, Open URL linking
technologies, and electronic resource management systems and tools.
S/he develops and implements new policies, procedures, and operations to
improve the management of electronic resources.
S/he serves as a cataloger for print, electronic and special format
materials
for a biomedical research collection. The incumbent maintains an
electronic
resources management database; selects and acquires electronic
resources; and
formulates, recommends and implements cataloging policies and practices
to
assure easy access to electronic resources. S/he conducts analytical
studies
to aid in selection and retention decisions. S/he works as a team
member in
an environment that fosters learning, collaboration, and teamwork.
Salary range is $43,365 to $62,886 with promotion potential to a salary
range
of $62,886 to $81,747.
