Collection Development Librarian
Doņa Ana Branch Community College
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Master's degree in library science from an American
Library Association-accredited program. Degree must be in hand by hire date.
Two years of related professional experience required, preferably in a
community college or other academic library setting.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Knowledge and understanding of current issues and
trends relating to collection development and technical services.
Demonstrated skill in the selection, acquisition, and organization of multi-
format library materials, with an emphasis on electronic resources.
Experience in supervision and problem analysis/resolution.
RESPONSIBILITIES: Coordinate all aspects of collection development for
DABCC's multi-campus system. Develop and implement policies and procedures
for the selection and acquisition of appropriate materials for academic and
other programs. This includes expansion of print and not print collections
to support the educational needs of all programs, with an emphasis on
electronic and other resources that support distance learning. Oversee
technical services functions, such as ordering, cataloging, physical
processing, and preservation of materials. Establish liaisons with faculty,
academic program coordinators, department heads and administrators to
solicit regular and timely input on collection development needs.
