ALCTS Pre-Order Pre-Catalog Searching Discussion Group 
Monday, June 27, 2:00-4:00 p.m., Palmer House Hilton, Salon XI 

The ALCTS Pre-Order Pre-Catalog Searching Discussion Group will explore
the 
impact of ISBN-13 on pre-order and pre-catalog searching at the 2005
Annual 
ALA meeting in Chicago.  Many libraries have already seen ISBN-13 impact

their collection development and technical services workflow, since
books 
are arriving with 13 digit ISBN numbers.  Tony Harvell, Head of
Acquisitions 
at the University of California at San Diego and Ann-Marie Breaux,
Senior 
Manager of Academic Services Development at YBP Library Services will
lead 
what is sure to be an interesting and lively discussion on the impact of

ISBN13 on pre-order and pre-catalog searching.  The discussion will
explore 
ways each library can prepare for the transition, and modify procedures
to 
facilitate the searching workflow.  If time permits, we will broaden the

discussion to include the impact of ISBN-13 on financial functions and 
cataloging.   We hope to see you there.
