*SERIALS AND ELECTRONIC RESOURCES SPECIALIST, McCabe Library. (1.0 FTE,
12-month, regular. Min. $2,725/month).
Provides leadership for the serials team in determining policies and
procedures for serials management. The serials team manages the
acquisitions, receipt, cataloging and maintenance of all print and
electronic serial publications. Because the serial publications
represent
such a large portion of the library's materials budget it is critical
these be closely monitored. The Serials and Electronic Resources
Specialist works with tri-college colleagues to determine areas in which
collaboration in serials management would benefit the libraries and
their
patrons. In addition is responsible for management of ordering, payment,
receipt, cataloguing and holdings maintenance of print and microform
periodicals as well as serial online resources and oversees students who
check in paper issues for McCabe and the Underhill music library on the
Innovative Interfaces system.
Other responsibilities include claiming missing issues, verifying
invoice
data, overseeing binding, overseeing periodical shelving and maintaining
contact with serial vendors in order to resolve receipt problems. Works
with service providers to resolve access problems for online resources.
Catalogs print periodicals and works with a team of tri-college
serialists
to catalog electronic journals. Maintains the data in the library's
electronic resource management system and contributes to the development
of the system.
Undergraduate degree required; MLS desirable. Familiarity with at least
one foreign language preferred. Requires one to two years experience
with
serial or electronic resource acquisitions or other significant library
experience, preferably in a technical services department, including
experience with OCLC and an integrated library system such as Innovative
Interfaces. #05-37
