Subject: Recipient of Esther J. Piercy Award
The ALCTS Esther J. Piercy Award Jury and YPB Library Services are
pleased
to announce the 2005 winner of the Esther J. Piercy Award. This award
is
given to recognize the contributions of a librarian with not more than
ten
years of professional experience in the areas of library collections and
technical services.
This year's winner is Terry Paul Reese, Digital Unit Production Head,
Cataloger for Networked Resources at Oregon State University for his
contributions in creating and developing the MarcEdit program. MarcEdit
is an indispensable tool for the manipulation of MARC records which is
used
by libraries, vendors, and utilities around the globe. One of his
nominees
stated it well: "Few, if any, make such a profound impact on technical
services so early in their careers." Terry will receive a certificate
and
a generous award from YBP Library Services in Chicago at the ALCTS
Awards
Ceremony, June 26 at 5PM.
