UNIVERSITY OF NORTHERN COLORADO 
TECHNICAL SERVICES CO-MANAGER--ACQUISITIONS/SERIALS 

The University of Northern Colorado seeks applicants for the position of

Technical Services Co-Manager-Acquisitions/Serials and Assistant
Professor 
of University Libraries position number 20631.

This is a tenure-track faculty position that reports to the Associate
Dean.  
In partnership with the Technical Services Co-Manager/Cataloging
provides 
innovative leadership for a newly configured department that is
responsible 
for both the acquisition and cataloging of library materials in all
formats, 
including government publications and electronic resources. Coordinates
the 
acquisition of all library materials and supervises 4-6 staff and one 
full-time librarian in an evolving technical services environment.
Oversees 
negotiation of contracts for electronic resources, maintains financial 
records for all library materials expenditures, and monitors a library 
materials budget of over $1,000,000.  Serves as the contact to vendors
of 
library materials. Provides leadership in the application of technology
to 
the acquisition of materials and management of serials and electronic 
resources, including the acquisitions and serials modules of the
integrated 
library system and e-resource management databases.  Provides reference 
service, library instruction, or collection development in an
appropriate 
area.  Must have strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work 
cooperatively. 

REQUIRED: Earned Master's degree from an ALA-accredited library school;
three 
years of experience in technical services appropriate to the position; 
supervisory experience.  PREFERRED: Experience managing budgets;
experience 
with an integrated library system; experience with electronic resources;

experience providing reference service, delivery of instruction or
collection 
development. 

Salary minimum is $41,000 (negotiable) per year.  The starting date is
June 1, 
2005 (negotiable). This position is contingent on funding from the
Colorado 
State Legislature, approval by the Board of Trustees and is subject to
the 
policies and regulations of the University of Northern Colorado. All
