Subject: Problem with the ACQNET subscriber database
Last week there was some kind of failure of the Listproc software on the
Appalachian
State U. campus, and electronic lists maintained on that system,
including ACQNET, were
restored to a version from earlier in the month. This means that anyone
who on their own made changes
to their subscription or requested help from me either subscribing or
unsubscribing, may have to have
those changes made again. I have heard from a couple of people about
requests to change or remove,
but of course there is no way I can reach those who newly subscribed
since now they aren't on the list!
I was not keeping a log of these requests (nothing like this has ever
happened before) so I don't have
any way to recapture all this correspondence.
My apologies for any inconvenience this may cause you and please let me
know if you need my
assistance once again in changing or removing your subscription. I can
only hope new subscribers
will notice that they're not getting anything and will get in touch.
Please note that this problem has had no effect on the actual operation
of the list. (as far as I can tell!)
Sincerely,
Eleanor Cook
