Acquisitions Librarian

Responsibilities
Reporting to the head of the Collection and Processing Services Unit,
coordinate acquisition operations for monographs and media, including
the monitoring of approval plans and direct order purchasing using
INNOPAC, PromptCat, and other vendor services, communicating with
publishers and vendors, and monitoring monograph and media budgets. Take
a lead role in the evaluation and efficient, innovative use of new
technologies in a changing environment. Direct the work of 3.25 library
assistants. Play a key role in collection development activities,
including selection of materials, participation on appropriate
collection development teams, and service as liaison to the Patrons of
the Library book selection committee. Engage in scholarly/creative and
professional activities as well as contribute service to the library and
university.
Qualifications
Required:
* Master's degree in library and/or information science from an
ALA-accredited institution or equivalent by the time of appointment
* Three to five years experience with progressive responsibility
in library acquisitions and technical services with thorough knowledge
of acquisition business practices
* Ability to analyze, implement and adapt to changing technologies
* Proficiency using a variety of software including Excel.
* Effective oral and written communication skills.
* Ability and willingness to work in a team environment
* Ability to interact effectively in a multi-cultural environment
with co-workers, faculty, library users and the wider campus community
Preferred:
* Experience with OCLC and automated acquisitions/serials control
systems (especially INNOPAC).
* Evidence of interest in professional development activities,
including publication.
Salary:
Salary range will be $54,000-$67,000, at the Senior Assistant or
Associate Librarian rank, commensurate with experience and
qualifications.
