Asst. Head of Tech. Svcs for Acquisitions and Serials (Position #
997390)
Nova Southeastern University 
Law Library and Technology Center

Fort Lauderdale, FL 33314

Primary purpose: Coordinate the Law Library's acquisitions and serials 
operations, supervising one full-time support staff position and 1 to 2 
part-time student assistant positions. 

Duties: Reporting to the Head of Technical Services, the incumbent will 
coordinate the ordering, claiming, receipt, processing and binding of
new 
materials and ongoing publications, including Florida state, U.S. and 
United Nations depository materials. 
Coordinate the payment of invoices for materials received, using the 
University Libraries' Innovative Interfaces system and the University's 
Banner system. 
Negotiate prices and services with vendors and publishers, to ensure
that 
the Law Library gets the best value per dollar spent. 
Evaluate the service performance of vendors and publishers, and make 
recommendations to Head of Technical Services regarding use of these 
vendors and publishers. 
Train and supervise staff assigned to perform Acquisitions and Serials 
activities. 
Serve as a member of Law Library's Collection Development Task Force. 
Provide reference services, including periodic weekend hours. 

Qualifications:

* Master's degree from ALA-accredited institution.
* Recent acquisitions or serials experience (law library experience 
preferred).
* Recent experience using an integrated library system (III preferred).
