Subject: Position Announcement

Apologies for cross-posting...

The ALCTS PVLR (Publisher-Vendor-Library Relations) Interest Group is
hosting an open forum at ALA Midwinter.

The Impact of ISBN-13 on Publishers, Vendors, and Libraries:

Monday, January 17, 9:30 - 11:00 AM, Westin Copley Place, Essex South.

As everyone knows, the ISBN is being expanded from 10 digits to 13. The
date
for full adoption of ISBN-13 is January 1, 2007. Like Y2K, much work
must
be done before then to be ready. ISBN-13 will have significant impact
on
electronic ordering, invoicing, ILL, searching, and cataloging. Come
learn
how publishers, book vendors, library system vendors, and libraries are
preparing for the transition. Learn what the implications are for your
library, and what you should be doing now!

Our panel lineup:

Eric Throndson, BISG
Greg Giblin, Wiley
Wendell Lotz, Ingram
Terry Willan, Talis
Frances McNamara, University of Chicago
Ann-Marie Breaux, YBP, moderator
