Collection Development Coordinator

The University of Wisconsin-Stevens Pont University Library is seeking
to fill a Library Faculty vacancy for the position of Collection
Development Coordinator (UWSP Position Number #05-62F24).

Position Description:

* Oversee the assessment, selection, acquisition and de-selection of
library materials
* Prepare and manage the acquisitions budget
* Communicate with faculty from all academic areas and represent the
University in consortia
* Teach in the library instruction program
* Provide reference service
* Participate in faculty governance, scholarship, and service

Department/ University Description:

UW-Stevens Point has a long and proud academic tradition beginning in
1894. UWSP now offers 54 undergraduate majors and confers master's
degrees in 12 disciplines as one of the 13 four-year campuses of the
University of Wisconsin System. With approximately 8,400 undergraduate
and graduate students, the University offers a diversity of programs
within four academic colleges: Letters and Science, Natural Resources,
Professional Studies, and Fine Arts and Communication. 

The University Library houses one of the finest collections of
information resources in the UW-System. In addition to almost 400,000
books and periodicals, our government publications collection contains
over one million items. The Library utilizes technology to provide
on-campus and remote access to its catalog, electronic databases,
e-journals, e-books, and other web information resources. Students are
assisted personally or in classes by a committed and knowledgeable
library staff. 

Qualifications: 

* ALA-accredited degree; MLS or equivalent
* Second master's (minimum) required for tenure 
* Two years relevant collection development experience in an academic
library preferred 
* Diverse blend of professional abilities and interests, including
collection development, instruction, and reference 
* Familiarity with current and emerging issues and practices in
collection development 
* Excellent communication, fiscal management and technology skills 
* Strong service orientation 
* Ability and desire to work as part of a collegial team 
* Ability to work effectively with diverse populations 

Appointment Date: Academic year appointment beginning August 24, 2005 

Terms of Employment: Tenure track position with faculty rank (Rank and
salary dependent upon experience and qualifications); academic year (9
month) appointment
