Senior Library Information Specialist - Acquisitions Supervisor

The Office of the Secretary of State, State Library Division/Technical
Services Program is recruiting for the position of Senior Library
Information Specialist.  This register will be used to fill this
position
only.  Recruitment is open to all who qualify.  Applicants are
encouraged to

DUTIES
Serves as the working supervisor of the Acquisitions section of the
Technical Services Program.  Monitors and analyzes library information
technology trends and developments and, opportunities to utilize new
technologies for streamlining acquisitions and serials management.  Once
appointed, the Acquisitions supervisor will be expected to analyze the
current unit structure and processes, recommend improvements based on
that
analysis, and implement approved changes.  Establishes and monitors
accuracy, performance, accounts and productivity standards.  Serves as
the
liaison with other sections in the agency to establish best practices
regarding ordering, receipt, tracking, and processing of library
materials.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
A Master's degree in library science from an American Library
Association
accredited program and certification by the State Librarian authorized
through the Office of the Secretary of State or certification by
professional portfolio as authorized through the Office of the Secretary
of
State; AND Three years of experience as a professional librarian. 

DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS
*   Experience with the Innovative Interfaces, Inc. integrated library
system.
*   Experience with the OCLC bibliographic utility.

SPECIAL NOTES
The following Selective Certification has been approved for this
position.
Applicants must possess the following experience.  This experience may
be
gained concurrently with experience listed in the Required
Qualifications
above.
*  One year of supervisory or management experience including
personnel management, budget development, technology planning, and
project
management. 
*  One year of acquisitions or cataloging experience as a
professional librarian.

COMPENSATION
$3291 - $4216 per month, depending on qualifications.  Washington State
offers a full benefits package which includes health, life, and long

This position is located in Tumwater, Washington, next door to Olympia.
