The University of North Texas Libraries invite applications for the
position 
of Electronic Resources Acquisitions Librarian

The UNT Libraries seek an energetic, detail oriented librarian to assume

primary responsibility for managing the ordering and renewal of
electronic 
resources as well as acquiring digital rights.

The successful candidate will work cooperatively with subject
specialist, 
Libraries Contracts Office, and Libraries' Accountant in acquiring, 
developing, delivering, maintaining, and assessing the Libraries'
collection 
of electronic resources. He/she will provide leadership in developing, 
managing, and assessing the Libraries' collection of electronic
resources. 
This will include coordinating the purchase of electronic resources and 
digital rights, working cooperatively with appropriate library faculty
and 
staff who are responsible for implementing/managing electronic resource 
management applications. He/she will also serves as the primary point of

contact with providers to obtain technical product information,
preliminary 
pricing information, and preliminary licensing information.
Responsibilities
will include completing paperwork necessary for the Libraries Contracts 
Office to begin the contract negotiation process and assist with
resolution 
of any problems. Once a contract is completed, the Electronic Resources 
Acquisitions Librarian will oversee the acquisition process and ensure
that 
links to and records for the new resource are created. 

The Electronic Resources Acquisitions Librarian reports to the Head of 
Technical Services and on budgetary matters reports to the Associate
Dean 
of Libraries.

Requirements:

MLS or MIS from an ALA-accredited program;

Experience with the evaluation, selection and the ordering of electronic
resources; 

Direct experience working with publishers/providers of electronic
resources;

Knowledge and experience in the use electronic resources;

Knowledge and trends in library acquisitions and collection development;

Excellent written and oral communication skills; and 

The ability to work both independently and in a team environment.

Preferred qualifications: Strongly preferred: Experience with automated 
serials and acquisitions systems (preferably Innovative Interfaces). 
Experience with licensing and contracts. Experience with database, 
spreadsheet and word processing software packages Evidence of
initiative, 
flexibility, and ability to work creatively in a rapidly changing 
environment. Interest in personal scholarly achievement and professional

development.

RANK: Librarian II or III

SALARY: Commensurate with qualifications and experience
