Acquisitions Manager (Higher Education Assistant) 
Location: Hunter College 
Division/Department: Library 
CUNY Personnel Vacancy Notice No.: MP-9601 
Closing Date: Open until filled. Review of applications will begin 
immediately. 

Duties: 
Reporting to the Head of Collection Management, supervises the
Acquisitions 
Department of the Hunter College Library; administers the library
materials 
budget; maintain the accounting database and files, preparing reports as

required; supervises the staff who order and receive library materials
and 
pay invoices; reconciles library materials budget with Accounts Payable.

Oversees department budget allocations and monitors spending from
allocated 
funds and accounts, utilizing the Library s online system, the Colleges 
Distributed Data Entry system for purchasing, bibliographic utilities
such 
as OCLC, and various office systems. Administers library contracts for 
online services and binding. Maintains effective relations and
reconciles 
accounts with publishers. Supervises the Library s duplicating and the
mail
 service. Trains, supervises and evaluates full and part-time staff
members 
of the unit. Participates in special projects as assigned. 

Qualifications: 
A Bachelor s degree is required plus four years of related experience or
a 
combination of experience and education above the baccalaureate.
Knowledge 
of spreadsheet and word processing programs is required. Highly
desirable: 
Familiarity with academic accounting practices, the book trade, and an 
online library system; supervisory experience; excellent communications
and 
interpersonal skills. 

Salary: 
$35,031 - $61,111 commensurate with qualifications and experience.
Excellent 
fringe benefits. 35-hour, 5-day work week.
