Collection Management Librarian (#401560)
Collection Development/Acquisitions
Middle Tennessee State University
Murfreesboro, Tennessee
Responsibilities: Serving as team leader and chair of the Collection
Development Committee, this position is responsible for the
supervision of four classified staff and the procurement and
payment of books and other related materials. The incumbent will
report to the Coordinator of Collection Management and will provide
leadership by establishing goals and objectives, overseeing efficient
procedures and workflow, gauging vendor performance and
monitoring the budget. Collection development responsibilities
include the enhancement of the library's collections consistent with
the curricular and research needs of the academic community, book
selection, communicating with faculty liaisons and profiling approval
plans.
Qualifications: ALA accredited MLS degree required at the time of
hire; experience with acquisitions and/or collection development
work; communication and organizational skills; ability to work in a
team environment; ability to work with faculty, staff and students;
knowledge of trends in the publishing industry (both print and
electronic), scholarly communication, academic libraries,
accreditation and assessment standards, and library vendors.
Previous experience as a supervisor is desirable as is experience
with the Endeavor Library System. Commitment to excellence in
teaching, research, publication and service and ability to meet
university promotion and tenure requirements is expected for all
positions.
This is a 12-month appointment with faculty rank and status.
Salary and Benefits: Highly competitive salary, academic rank
commensurate with qualifications. Generous benefits include paid
State or TIAA/CREF retirement, 24 days annual leave, 12 days sick
leave, and 13 paid holidays.
