Subject: ALA Meeting Announcement: ALCTS Medium Heads
The ALCTS Heads of Technical Services of Medium-Sized Academic and
Research Libraries Discussion Group will meet at ALA Annual 2004 in
Orlando as follows:
Saturday, June 26: 9:30-11:00 a.m. J.W. Marriott Grande Lakes, Palazzo D
A new chair will be elected. Nominations will be accepted at the
meeting,
or you may send them to me in advance.
The overall discussion theme will be: Coping with Change. Steering
committee members will facilitate individual round table discussions on
the
following sub-topics for 40 minutes, before tables summarize for the
group
at large:
1. How to deal with a new dean
2. How to cope with changes in next year's budget
3. Adjusting work flows after migration to a new integrated system
4. Helping staff cope with change
5. Developing cooperation between acquisitions and cataloging when
implementing cataloging-on-receipt, PromptCat, receiving shelf-ready
materials, etc.
6. Convincing the dean that you need more staff in technical services
in
order to cope with changes
Come, choose a table, and participate in lively and useful discussions
planned to help you cope.
