Acquisitions Librarian

University Libraries

The University of Toledo

The University of Toledo invites applications for the position of 
Acquisitions Librarian.  This full-time, tenure-track faculty position 
reports to the Chair of the Library Faculty.

PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES: 
Manages the acquisition of new monographs and media for the University 
Libraries; prepares and monitors the budget.  Works collegially with 
selectors and others in unit to manage collection development of
monographs.  
Supervises the activities of acquisitions support staff (currently 3
FTE), 
including monographic ordering, receiving, claiming, vendor
correspondence, 
etc.  Provides some reference service and/or library instruction to
library 
users.  Meets requirements for promotion and tenure in the areas of 
librarianship, scholarly activity and service, in accordance with
library 
policies and the UT-AAUP collective bargaining agreement.

REQUIRED: 
Master's degree in library or information science from an ALA-accredited
(or 
equivalent) program.  At least two years experience with library
acquisitions 
and collection development.

At least two years supervisory experience.  Demonstrated achievement in 
scholarly activity (e.g., publications or presentations) and service to
meet 
the criteria for appointment at Assistant Professor.

PREFERRED: 
Demonstrated competence with INNOPAC/Millennium or similar integrated
library 
system software.  Demonstrated competence with approval plan software
and 
bibliographic search tools.  Experience with collection development in a

resource-sharing environment.

Experience with or knowledge of electronic resource licensing.
