Electronic Resources/Serials Librarian
Randall Library, UNCW 

The University of North Carolina at Wilmington is a member institution
of 
the University of North Carolina, and is nationally recognized for its 
marine sciences teaching and research programs, and for its strengths in

arts and sciences, business, education, and nursing. The University is 
situated on a beautiful arboretum campus located in an historic port
city 
within five miles of the Atlantic Ocean. The University currently
enrolls 
approximately 11,000 students.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Randall Library has access to substantial 
online information resources through NC LIVE (a state-funded virtual 
library) and other institutional subscriptions. The successful candidate

for this position will be responsible for providing integrated access to

serial resources, including cataloging and database maintenance
activities, 
with an emphasis on e-journals.  Related duties include evaluating and 
assessing products and services relating to serials management,
resolving 
access problems, collecting and analyzing usage statistics, and staying 
abreast of trends and developments relating to e-journal management.
This 
position also includes regular  Reference Desk coverage, including 
occasional weekend hours.  Library faculty at UNCW engage in scholarship

resulting in publication, conference presentation and other evidence of 
scholarly efforts. Reports to the Associate University Librarian for 
Technical & Collection Services.

REQUIREMENTS:  MLS/MLIS from an ALA accredited program.  Must have 
excellent analytical skills and an aptitude for detail-oriented work, 
experience and/or extensive training with OCLC, MARC formats, AACR2, and

serials work using an integrated library system.  Requires excellent 
computer skills, including knowledge of spreadsheet and database
applications 
and effective communication and interpersonal skills.

PREFERENCES: 2 years of experience in technical services in an academic 
library.

SALARY & BENEFITS: Salary minimum $33,500, depending on qualifications,
or 
commensurate with labor market for this position. Annual contract with 
faculty status (lecturer, non-tenure track).  Generous benefits package,
