Subject: ALCTS Discussion Group Meeting Announcement
The ALCTS/Pre-Order pre-Catalog Searching Discussion Group will be
exploring the topic "Division of responsibilities and improving
communication between Collection Development and Acquisitions" at the
annual conference in Orlando. In order to set the stage for our
discussion of the topic we are seeking volunteers to serve on a small
panel who would be willing to share their experiences and local policies
in this area. We are looking to have about four "experts" who would
each have around 10-15 minutes to express ideas, solutions and local
policies from their local points of view. After the comments of each
panelist we intend to have a lively audience participation period where
interaction between the panelist and group attendees could take place to
further explore the topic with ideas, question and solutions from the
audience. The discussion group will take place during the 9:30 am -
11:00 am time period on Saturday, June 26th. If you would like to
participate as a panelist please contact the Chair or Vice Chair at the
email addresses following this message. If you have ideas that you
would like to be discussed concerning our topic feel free to send them
along also. Hopefully we will get a number of volunteers and we will
make decisions on who to include by April 15th.
