Acquisitions/Collection Development Librarian:
The State University of New York Maritime College
The Maritime College Library, of The State University of New York, seeks a
highly motivated individual for the position of Acquisitions/Collection
Development Librarian.
Duties: The Acquisitions/Collection Development librarian works
collaboratively with other librarians coordinating collection development
and management. Oversees the acquisitions and subscriptions of the library
collections in all formats. Responsible for ordering, receiving and
invoicing. Performs reference duties and participates in the library’s
information literacy program. As a member of the faculty serves on various
campus-wide committees of the college governance.
Qualifications: Required: ALA-accredited MLS degree; experience in
collection development and acquisitions at a research or academic library;
demonstrated knowledge and experience in library acquisitions business
practices, vendor relations, and fund accounting; supervisory experience;
strong interpersonal and communication skills; ability to successfully lead,
train and interact with employees; ability to develop positive professional
relationships with commercial vendors and the college community;
resourcefulness, creativity, problem solving skills; ability to work in a
team-based environment.
Position: Tenure track Assistant Librarian position. Position includes an
excellent benefit package. Salary commensurate with qualifications and
experience.
Maritime College: The State University of New York Maritime College is a
four-year college. It provides an outstanding education in the areas of
Science, Engineering, Naval Architecture, Marine Transportation/Business
Administration, Marine Environmental Science, and the Humanities. Located on
the Throggs Neck peninsula where the East River meets Long Island Sound, the
