Subject: Call for NASIG Proceedings Editor
NASIG PROCEEDINGS EDITOR WANTED
NASIG is seeking an editor for its 2004 Conference Proceedings. This is a
great opportunity for NASIG members who want to become actively involved in
one of the best conferences in the business. We are seeking a good writer
who can work under tight deadlines and have some editing experience. The
editor will form a team with Patricia French (University of California,
Davis; currently co-editor of the 2003 Conference Proceedings) to prepare
both the print and electronic editions.
The proceedings editors will select and organize volunteers who will take
detailed notes at each workshop. A major responsibility will be
communicating the requirements for the published proceedings to conference
speakers. Before the conference, speakers will be advised on submission
formats, deadlines, and copyright requirements. After the conference, the
editors will work with speakers on revisions. The editors must be
diplomatic but firm about NASIG's requirements.
The editors will work under the general direction of the NASIG Executive
Board Liaison.
Specific qualifications include, but are not limited to, the following:
NASIG membership and previous conference attendance
Ability to attend the 2004 NASIG Conference in Milwaukee
Demonstrated writing ability
Prior publishing/editing experience
Expertise with standard word processing programs
Access to equipment for audio tape transcription
Ability to send and receive attachments via email
Ability to complete editorial work between late June and September 2004
Familiarity with MS FrontPage 2000 desirable
To apply, submit a letter outlining specific qualifications and experience.
Include a current resume and a writing sample. Preference will be given to
those applicants who address the specific qualifications listed above.
Appointment is subject to approval by the NASIG Executive Board.
Contact Kevin Randall at the address listed below if you would like further
information.
Submit application letter, resumes, and writing samples (by mail, e-mail,
