YBP Library Services
Position: Regional Manager, Collection Management and Development Group
Location: Position based in Texas
Reports to: National Sales Director
Position Summary: Expand and retain library customer base by identifying
and selling YBP/B&T products and services to prospective and existing
customers. Responsible for the sales activity for products/services
including, but not limited to, YBP approval plans, YBP and Baker and Taylor
continuation services, firm orders, technical services and electronic
services in a defined geographic area.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
· Identify new business opportunities through researching and analyzing
sales options.
· Sell YBP/B&T products and services by establishing contact and developing
long-term relationships with both customers and prospects; recommend
product and service solutions
· Supervises collection development process between YBP/B&T and library
customer.
· Maintain relationships with customer by providing support, information,
and guidance; researching and recommending new opportunities; recommending
product and service improvements.
· Recommend new or improved products or services by remaining current on
industry trends, market activities, and competitors
· Prepare library call reports
· Work closely with Customer Service Bibliographer to assure customer
profile reflects true collection requirements.
· Communicates and interacts with multiple departments (Operations, I/S,
Distribution, Continuations, Customer Service, Publisher Relations, Human
Resources, Technical Services, Senior Management, Accounting) to ensure
adherence to customer requirements. Also interacts with other business
units within YBP/ B&T.
· Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending professional
conferences; reviewing professional publications; and establishing personal
networks.
Qualifications:
· Masters in Library Science or equivalent experience
· Five years experience in library or publisher industry, in increasingly
responsible professional staff or managerial positions
· Specific knowledge of library technical services, systems, and other
complex bibliographic databases.
· Superior written and verbal skills, coupled with very strong
interpersonal skills
· Must have effective presentation skills
· High tolerance for ambiguity, yet capable of working with considerable
detail
· Excellent PC skills and strong knowledge of MS Office software and
Internet experience
· Ability to travel approximately 30-50% of workdays.
