Subject: Call for Nominations
Nominations are invited for the office of Vice Chair, ALA/ALCTS Gifts
and Exchange Discussion Group. The Vice Chair must be a member of
ALCTS, and will serve a one-year term as Vice Chair, starting
immediately, before serving a one-year term as Chair.
Attendance at ALA Midwinter and Annual meetings is required, as the
Chair's/Vice Chair's primary duty is the organization of Discussion
Group meetings at those conferences. The Chair's/Vice Chair need not be
an acquisitions librarian as such, but should understand and/or be
interested in acquisitions processes and issues.
Lively discussions are held on accepting and declining gift books,
donating gift books to worthy institutions and selling books to print
and online dealers, and developing appropriate policies to manage the
entire gift book enterprise in the age of extreme scrutiny.
To nominate (and self-nominations are of course allowed/encouraged),
send name, title and institution of nominee with a brief statement of
interest to Chair Maria Kuhn (email: mkuhn_at_bloomu.ed) before by
September 15.
